Thesis
Following the failure of the League of Nations and the devastation that occurred as a result of World
War II, a permanent solution to ending global strife was needed. Politically
dominant leaders sought to resolve this issue, and in 1945, after a
series of conferences, the United Nations was established. Devoted to
maintaining international peace and security, preserving human rights, and assisting
countries economically, the United Nations has remained a leader in settling international
affairs over the last seventy years, and by virtue of its influential verdicts on a variety of global topics, it has forged a timeless legacy that will be revered by generations to come.
